Conference reflects busy industry

DENVER – The National Home Infusion Association is undergoing a transformation—and that’s good timing for its annual conference, says COO Jennifer Charron.

NHIA is in the midst of rebranding: it recently launched a new logo and a new look for its Infusion Magazine, while leadership is working to amplify the association’s educational and advocacy efforts.

“There’s a lot going on in our industry right now and it shows,” she said. “We’ve added several new educational sessions that reflect industry trends and information that attendees will need within the home and specialty infusion industry.”

The NHIA 2020 Conference takes place April 5-9 at the Gaylord Rockies in Denver. The event will feature an exhibit hall with more than 130 vendors and dozens of educational sessions sessions organized across several tracks including clinical, reimbursement, leadership, business development and RN essentials, says Charron.

“We really wanted to offer more staff education,” she said. “Field nurses, technicians, pharmacists—that’s a really specific type of education that I don’t think we had really focused on in the past. They are our fastest growing segment of attendees.”

As the complexity of patients moving to the home continues to grow, it’s crucial to stay up-to date, something conference organizers are mindful, says Charron

For the third year, the conference features a sterile compounding clinic, which is available as a separate registration, says Charron.

“Sterile compounding is such a key competency for home infusion,” she said. “Having that available has really transformed the conference.”
